Business Development Manager (m/w/d) - Mining Analytical Services

Full-time Remote Competitive, based on experience

Help build our mining vertical. Open doors with metallurgists, geologists and consultants, and turn technical conversations into customers — from troubleshooting studies to feasibility and characterization programs.

We're building the operating system for materials analysis

Right now, geologists spend far too much time battling outdated tools just to get minerals data. That slows down every step. We're fixing it! In just 18 months, Momentum Transfer has gone from spinout to seed-funded startup to the go-to platform for synchrotron-quality powder X-ray diffraction as a service. More than 2,300 users already rely on us to provide state of the art mineralogy data. Now we're expanding our mining services — where understanding mineralogy isn't academic, it's the difference between a profitable operation and a write-off.

The Mindset

This role is for someone who enjoys opening doors in a technical market. You'll identify mining projects where better mineralogical data can make a real difference, build relationships with metallurgists, geologists, consultants and project teams, and help turn those conversations into customers. This is not an inbound or account-management role. You should be comfortable reaching out, asking good technical questions, learning quickly and building trust. Mining sales are won through credibility, patience and useful conversations — not slick pitches.

Who this is for

You have experience selling into mining, minerals, analytical services, laboratory work, geoscience or technical consulting. Ideally, you have worked with sample-based services — physical samples go to a lab, useful data comes back. You have sold to metallurgists, geologists, process engineers, exploration teams or consultants. What matters is technical confidence, commercial instinct, persistence and the ability to earn trust. Experience with XRD, mineralogy, metallurgy, geometallurgy, battery minerals or high-value ores is a strong plus.

The Role

We're looking for a commercially minded business developer to help build our mining business globally. You'll identify opportunities, start conversations with mining companies and consultants, and help close projects ranging from troubleshooting studies to larger feasibility and characterization programs. You'll work closely with the founders and technical team to understand customer problems, shape proposals and make sure we sell work we can deliver exceptionally well. Your work will include prospecting, technical sales conversations, pipeline management, proposals, conferences, client meetings and expanding successful first projects into broader collaborations. Remote role, with travel for conferences, client meetings and selected site visits.

What we're looking for

  • 2–5+ years in commercial mining, minerals, lab services, geoscience, analytical services or technical consulting
  • Experience with sample-based or technical services — lab work, mineral testing, metallurgy, geochemistry, XRD, mineralogy or adjacent areas
  • Evidence you can win new business — opened doors, developed leads, followed up and helped turn conversations into projects
  • Technical credibility with mining customers — or the ability to learn fast
  • Builder mindset — comfortable with ambiguity, outbound work and creating the playbook as we go
